New Findings: Health Disparities for People with Disabilities
Amanda Reichard, Ph.D., is leading research about the economic usefulness and health outcomes of the Kansas Medicaid Home and Community-Based Waiver. These new fact sheets summarize the findings to date:

NARRTC Recognizes David Gray

- Tom Seekins and Craig Ravesloot are coauthors on “Building the case for delivering health promotion services within the vocational rehabilitation system,” published in the Rehabilitation Counseling Bulletin, January 2010. Lead author is Catherine Ipsen.
- Glen White is lead author of an article in the March 2010 issue of Journal of Disability Policy Studies. Craig Ravesoot, Chiaki Gonda, Jamie Simpson, our partner at the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and Zach Coble, MICL Fellowship alumnus, are coauthors of “Moving from independence to interdependence: A conceptual model for better understanding community participation of centers for independent living consumers,” (20(4), 223-240).
- Charles Drum, Glen White, Willi Horner-Johnson and Genia Taitano published "The Oregon Death with Dignity Act: Results of a literature review and naturalistic inquiry" in Disability and Health Journal (Jan. 2010, Vol. 3, Issue 1, pp. 3-15).
- Amanda Reichard has had a paper accepted for presentation at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Diabetes Translation Conference in April. Her subject is “Diabetes among Adults with Cognitive Limitations Compared to Individuals with No Disabilities in the U.S.”
- Charles Drum received the National Distinguished Disability Research Award from the Southwest Conference on Disability, where he was also the keynote speaker. This award recognizes an individual from the United States who has compiled a distinguished record of disability-related research in the social or physical sciences that has contributed to and advanced our overall knowledge of disability.

An article by Glen White appears in the November issue of New Mobility magazine. The article 's about his trip to Peru in January ’09 with an American IL Dream Team is titled “Independent Living: From Kansas to Peru.”
