Professional Biography
Hayley Stolzle is a Master’s of Public Health student at the University of Kansas Medical Center. As a graduate research assistant for the RTC/IL, she assists with the preparation of journal articles and grant submissions by conducting literature reviews and managing citation databases. She also works with Dr. Amanda Reichard on analyzing and examining health outcome data for persons with disabilities.
Before working with the RTC/IL, she completed an exercise science internship in Milwaukee, WI, and then worked in childhood obesity research for the Kansas University Energy Balance Laboratory. She has also written and received a local grant to implement a childhood obesity prevention program in a Winfield, KS, elementary school. The program included a classroom curriculum for healthy eating, a physical activity intervention and an educational component for students’ families and friends.
She has also worked at a safety net clinic in Lawrence, KS. As wellness coordinator, she planned programs and worked with low-income patients on making healthy lifestyle changes in the areas of smoking cessation, diet, and exercise.
Research Interests
Stolzle is interested in preventive health, international health, maternal and child health, health care access for the medically underserved, youth fitness and childhood obesity research, health education in impoverished nations, surveillance of infectious diseases.
Education
Stolzle received a B.A. in biology with an emphasis in exercise science from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS. She also received a minor in Leadership Studies and participated in Leadership Southwestern, a service organization that implemented community service projects at the local, national, and international level.
