Emergency Preparedness Trainings
Disasters disproportionately affect people who are unable to physically escape them.Census figures suggest that at last one in six Americans is at increased risk of injury or death in emergency situations by virtue of his or her disability.
The RTC/IL conducts research to improve emergency preparedness for people with disabilities in the event of natural or man-made disasters. We have produced a variety of educational materials to help people prepare for all hazards, and have investigated the results of disasters to lay a groundwork for more effective responses to new crises.
