Knowledge Translation

Knowledge translation (KT) is an essential goal of our research center.

This means that the new information produced by our research will be translated into effective changes in practice, policy and products related to community living for people with disabilities.

There are three general processes for achieving this goal:

  • Dissemination- We will share our findings through a variety of venues and with a range of audiences. We will communicate with other disability researchers through scholarly papers and conference presentations, while webinars, newsletters and emails will be created to inform consumers, advocates, policymakers and others of our work.

  • Training - Some of our projects specifically focus on developing trainings, such as R-7, R-8, R-9 and R-11. We will also provide a number of stand-alone trainings that help people develop the skills and knowledge for community living.

  • Technical Assistance - We will deliver technical assistance (TA) through specific projects as well as through the Center at large. Please check back for our "Ask Us" website feature, and see our Frequently Asked Questions section in "Resources."
