Kerri Morgan

Would you describe the R1 project?
Sure. R1 is measurement tools, some outcome measures that we have developed over time that specifically relate to looking at participation in the environment and how those two things interact with people with disabilities. Our goal is to take these measurement tools, modify them, and actually get independent living centers to use them to track their outcomes of their specific programs.

How do you describe "measurement" to the average person on the street?
I would define it as a system to determine whether you are making the impact that you want to have. Independent living centers have all kinds of different programs. They are doing a lot of good things. How do they then show their programs are having the impact, output they actually want. We can use these measurement tools, or these surveys to show that possibly these programs are having impact on people’s participation or having impact on the environment.
